Bishop Broderick Pabillo arrived in Palawan on Thursday, ahead of his installation as the new shepherd of the Apostolic Vicariate of Taytay.
The 66-year old was welcomed at Puerto Princesa International Airport by some priests of the vicariate.
From the airport, they proceeded to Taytay on a three-hour land travel, and where the prelate will undergo a mandatory 7 day quarantine.
Pabillo will formally assume his post in a simple ceremony at the St. Joseph the Worker Cathedral on August 19, which is also his 15th episcopal ordination anniversary.
Pope Francis appointed Pabillo as the second vicar apostolic of Taytay vicariate on June 29, after 15 years as auxiliary bishop of Manila.
He replaced Bishop Edgardo Juanich, 66, who resigned in 2018 over health reasons.
