Father Oscar Ante of the Order of Friars Minor, also known as the Franciscan Order, passed away on Friday, Jan. 19, his religious order announced.
He was 72.
Ante served as provincial minister of the OFM Province of San Pedro Bautista from 1994 to 2000.
During that period, he was elected as the co-chairperson of the Association of Major Religious Superiors in the Philippines (AMRSP), now known as the Conference of Major Superiors in the Philippines (CMSP), and served from 1998 to 2001.
“CMSP treasured his dedicated service to the Church and to the advocacies of the conference,” the organization said.
Ante made his first profession of vows to religious life on May 23, 1974, and made his solemn profession of vows on May 21, 1977.
He was ordained priest on October 12, 1977.
